Optelect

Photo culling for wedding & event photographers

Pick the best shots. Skip the rest.

Optelect flags closed eyes and soft focus, groups bursts, suggests the best frame and checks that no guest is missed, so a 2,000-photo session becomes your 200 selects in a fraction of the time.

A typical session

From 2,000 frames to the 200 that matter

  1. 2,000

    Imported

Open the shoot's folder. Thumbnails load in the background.

  2. 1,420

    Weak frames rejected

Closed eyes, soft focus and bad exposure, suggested for you to confirm.

  3. 610

    Bursts collapsed

Near-duplicates are grouped and the best frame of each is kept.

  4. 200

    Delivered

A final review, then the selects are copied to the client folder.

An example wedding; your numbers will differ.

Features

Everything between the memory card and the delivery

  • Cull at full speed

Like, dislike or skip with one key and move on. The grid stays quick with thousands of frames.

  • Group similar shots

Bursts and near-duplicates are grouped automatically, with the sharpest, best-exposed frame suggested. Compare two side by side and keep the winner.

  • Suggested rejects

Every frame is checked for closed eyes, soft focus and bad exposure. Untick what you want to keep, then apply in one go.

  • Nobody left out

Faces are grouped into people, and anyone without a kept photo is listed first, so no guest is missing from the gallery.

  • Final review

A last pass over your selects, with a slideshow and a check for look-alike shots taken seconds apart.

  • Notes for your editor

Add retouching notes to any photo, and reuse your common ones in one click.

  • Nothing is ever lost

Culling never touches your files. Rejected photos wait in Restore, and every decision can be undone.

  • Export your selects

Copy the picks to any folder, or their file names (plain or numbered) to the clipboard for your client.

How it works

Four steps, one session

  1. 1

    Open a folder

Point Optelect at a shoot. Thumbnails and checks run in the background.

  2. 2

    Clear the weak frames

Review the suggested rejects: closed eyes, soft focus, bad exposure.

  3. 3

    Cull & group

Walk through the rest with one key per photo, and keep the best of each burst.

  4. 4

    Review & deliver

Check that everyone is there, then copy the selects to the client folder.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Optelect analyses photos on your computer. Our servers only handle your account and plan; they never see a photo.

Can Optelect delete or change my photos?

No. Culling only records your decisions. Rejected photos stay in the folder and can be restored at any time, and exporting copies files without moving them.

Which files does it open?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and BMP. RAW files aren't supported yet.

Do I need to be online?

Only to sign in and, now and then, to confirm your plan. Without internet the app keeps working for up to 7 days.

How many computers can I use?

Each plan shows how many computers it covers. You can sign a computer out from your account to free its place.

How does billing work?

Plans are prepaid. Nothing renews automatically: when your time is running out, you decide whether to buy more.

Is it available in Arabic?

Yes. The app and this website work fully in Arabic and English, right-to-left included.
