Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains what information Optelect ("we") collects when you use the Optelect website and desktop app, why, and the choices you have.
The short version: your photos never leave your computer. We keep only what we need to run your account, your subscription and the security of the service.
1. Your photos stay on your computer
The desktop app analyses your photos (focus, eyes, faces, similar shots) entirely on your own computer. Photos, faces, thumbnails and your culling decisions are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
The app saves your decisions and a thumbnail cache in hidden files inside the photo folder you open, and its settings in a file in your user folder. These stay on your computer.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your email address, your name (if you give one), your mobile number (needed for payments) and the language you want our emails in.
- Sign-in security: your password is stored only as a secure hash; if you turn on two-step verification, its secret is stored encrypted.
- Computers using the app: a one-way fingerprint of each computer's ID (never the ID itself), the computer's name, its system (Windows or macOS), the app version and when it last checked in.
- App use: the days on which you used the desktop app (not what you did in it), to understand how many people use it.
- Purchases: the plan, amount, discount code and payment status of each purchase. Card details are entered on our payment provider's page; we never see or store them.
- Security records: the IP address and browser or app information of sign-ins and important account changes, so you can review your account activity and we can stop misuse.
3. How we use it
- To provide your account, the subscription you bought and access to the desktop app on your computers.
- To send emails about your account: confirmation and reset codes, receipts, security notices and reminders before your plan ends. We don't send marketing emails.
- To keep the service secure, for example pausing sign-in after repeated wrong passwords.
- To keep accounting records of payments, as the law requires.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. We share only what each of these service providers needs to do its job for us:
- TuwaiqPay, our payment provider in Saudi Arabia: your name, email and mobile number for the payment bill.
- Zoho Mail: your email address and the content of the emails we send you.
- Railway: hosts our website, servers and database.
- Cloudflare: provides our domain name service (DNS).
5. Cookies and similar storage
The website uses only cookies it needs to work: two that keep you signed in (they can't be read by the page's scripts) and one that remembers your language. While a payment is in progress, the billing page also remembers that payment in your browser tab until you close it.
We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal details (email, name, mobile number, password, two-step verification and settings) are removed and your computers are signed out.
Payment records are kept, linked only to an anonymised account, because accounting rules require it.
7. Security
Connections to the website and the app use encryption (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, secrets are encrypted, and on your computer the app protects your sign-in with Windows' data protection or the macOS Keychain.
8. Your choices and rights
- See and change your name, mobile number, email address and email language in your account at any time.
- Review your account's recent activity and sign out other devices.
- Delete your account from your profile page.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask a question about it, at support@optelect.app.
9. Children
Optelect is a professional tool and isn't intended for children. Please don't create an account for anyone under 18.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you by email when a change matters to how your information is used.
